Warning: Don’t Try This While Pregnant

September 27, 2010

So Miss Divalicious herself, Mariah Carey is the latest victim to fall on stage while performing in Singapore recently. Check out the video and her personal servant assistant helping her with her shoes (at the 51 mark) here:

Did I mention that she’s reportedly 5 months pregnant? Not a good look at all… Luckily she fell sideways instead of face first. I hope the baby is okay.

She of course wasn’t the first to fall while pregnant. Miss A. Keys started the trend a few months ago as seen here:

She was about 5 months preggers here I believe as well, and from the video you can clearly see she rolled her ankle. And even though that’s something that she could have done even if she wasn’t on stage, I’ve really come to the point where if an artist is pregnant and performing, they should really just

Yes, take a cue from Drake (click link above). Drake tore his ACL and had the sense to pop a squat on stage at the BET Awards in 2009. Sure his performance was lame, but it was only because no one could tell that something was physically wrong with him in the first place  since he didn’t take the time to explain his situation before his performance.

But for anyone who is pregnant (or carrying a “gut full of baby” as likes to affectionately call it), the audience is not dumb. Thanks to gossip blogs, we know you are pregnant (even if you haven’t confirmed it) and have no problems with you performing sitting down. Sure, your fans paid boo-koo money just to see you live. But at the end of the day ask yourself if moving around on stage with the potential of falling and damaging your baby’s development or risking their health, just to give fans a good show, is worth it?

A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Alicia perform live and she is a heck of a performer. The girl dances and sings, not to mention laying on top of the piano and playing the keys backwards! But now that she is pregnant, she could do her all of her performances at her piano and everything would be fine. And I don’t mean like this:

(Yes she was pregnant here as well)

Mariah on the other hand could’ve easily done her performance sprawled out on a velvet chaise lounge center stage while her royal subjects dancers fanned her. We wouldn’t want the little diva to over-exhert herself (it’s not like she does that much on stage anyways)!

Of course all the greats take their dives, as no one can forget the infamous Beyonce fall:

What choreographer’s bright idea was it to make Bey violently swing all 48 inches of her lace front wig around while standing backwards on some stairs, just so she could dizzly turn around to completely bomb her way down? I have no idea..

BUT Beyonce wasn’t pregnant, so she can do all of that.

For everyone else out there performing with child, I hope you take a chill pill. I don’t care if you have to sit down, or exchange your 5 and a half-inch stilettos for some kitten heels, just please do it for the child. In a few months you can perform all you want to!

all the time i used to read smaller articles or reviews which as well clear their motive, and that is also happening with
this paragraph which I am reading at this time.
